Let's Sketch!

Lissa has created another sketch for us this month and she and the team have several beautiful layouts to share. They had a theme of adding layers and although each one is so different they are all as beautiful as the next. Hope you will enjoy the very diverse projects each of the ladies created! Let's start with Lissa's sketch and then the projects will follow in this order: Lissa, Kathy, Nikki, Kristi and Guylaine :)

Reading from the Psalms

Marci, Anna and Vanessa have made layouts for us to take a look at this month using the Bible verse Psalm 69:30 that reads in the KJV:
I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.

If you enjoy reading the NIV the words were written this way:
I will praise God's name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving.

Each of the Groovy Chicks have shown great ways to represent their interpretations. Marci's is the first layout and then you will see Anna's and Vanessa's.

2 Pagers Using Cardboard-UPDATED

I can honestly say I don't ever remember seeing a scrapbook page using cardboard that I did not like. It is easily found, adds texture, can be easily manipulated, and looks like that stuff we all love so much: Kraft!

Here are our 2 Page Chicks' creations using cardboard...hurry go break down a box and see what you too can do using this great stuff with a surprise!!! I contacted ClaraD who is a Veteran at scrapbook.com and she has created a layout she titles "One" that inspired the firls this month. Wanna see? All are based on a Becky Higgins sketch from July 2008 if you too would like to give this cool 2 pager a try :)

Proud Fiskateer #2644

Using Super Sized Circles and an Ultra Shape Express cutter by Fiskars cut one medium circle. Add on one strip of a coordinating paper across the middle, but before attaching use a Fingertip Knife, also by Fiskars to slice a spot to insert pics. Punch a hole in the top and add an eyelet and ribbons to coordinate. Boom! A way to send school or Christmas pics to your loved ones :) Let me know if you try it and I will happily show it here on IIG!

Autumn with Little Girls

Ice cream and cake. Salt and pepper. Tom and Jerry. All of these are things that must go together, but there is something else that is a divine mix and that is little girls and Autumn. Check out the inspirations from our Dollbabies team below and see what I mean. I even surprised the girls and played along too! Oh! We have a new Dollbabies Artist, Natalie so I would like to send out an official Groovy Welcome to her as well :) Look for her picture to the left and click to pay a visit to her blog after you've looked around here today :) Have a great today!

What Can 10¢ Get Ya in Scrapbooking???

I LOVE books! Do you? Do you have a collection of very worn out, broken down books sitting on the shelf that have been read a thousand times since you were little or to your own children? It is time to repurpose and I am going to show you how! Read on...

I was at my local library when I found this really cute book for 10¢

I started thinking about how I could use this book without adding to my totes and totes of already loved books. I borrowed a friend's CM circle punch and added it to these items:

In case you don't have one of those purple punches it is a punch that well, punches two little holes to resemble those found inside a button.

I opened that well worn book and punched out some cute little pictures, see?

I then coated them several times in the Paper Glaze to make them a bit more stiff and punched them right in the middle to look like buttons. After they were completely dry I put embroidery floss through one of them and added it to my elf button to add to this layout. Easy right? One of a kind buttons too!

Here is another example of what I used my "buttons" for. I recently had a class with local kids and made a paper bag album using Snow White as my inspiration and then what I did was chose pics from the story of Snow White to add to my album here also turning the buttons over to expose some words from the story too. TFL and remember to every thing there is a season and when that season is finished find a new one :)
