Introducing New DT Member, Lindsey!

I am so excited  to be  bringing a new face  to our team! I know you will love her work and that she will be a great fit to  the groovy team :) Please help me to  welcome Lindsey! She has provided a bio for us and is also showing her take on the Hand-Cut Challenge :)
Deb♥

Hi Groovy Gals! My name is Lindsey and I've been scrapbooking for a long, long time! I started a book when I got engaged in 1999 as a planner. I then started books for my wedding and my nephews, and when my first was born, I searched Scrapbook.com. It was all over after that! I began in Yahoo groups, I continued to Forums, and I landed at ScrapStreet.com. I've been taking a bit of a scrapbooking break, thinking I needed to reinvent myself, but found out that scrapbooking for yourself can actually be done! I haven't bought new supplies in almost 2 years now, so I am working purely on stash and memories. It can be done!

I've been married to my husband since 2000, Matthew was born in 2003, and McKenna was born in 2006. We also always have boxers (the dogs!); we have Mia who just turned 4 and Milo who will be 2 next month.

You can find me at http://LindseyScraps.blogspot.com , http://truexoxoscrapbooking.wordpress.com and right here, I'm delighted to say! I feel inspired to say that McKenna currently loves peace signs, my favorite 70s song is 'Rock the Boat', and that I live less than an hour from Woodstock. It's good to be Groovy!

Here is what Lindsey said about her Hand-Cut Challenge Layout:

Jump! by Lindsey Krauss. Supplies: Paper: Bella Blvd., Xerox, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics, Sticker: Bella Blvd., Pearls: Kaiser Crafts, Mist: Tattered Angels (Tsukineko), Paint: Making Memories,  Other: leaf vellum, brown ribbons, heart button, raffia. Font: Brody.

Design note: To create this hand-cut title, I printed out a picture with leaves large enough to fit in the space I planned on my page. I then found a nice, bubble font and printed that out a few times in black on another sheet of paper. I stapled the font to the leafy picture in its white space and cut the title with a craft blade. I simply cut around the black font, about 1/8" out. I laid the picture-title on the white paper-title (I like the ink behind the title because it covers some little fussy-cutting imperfections.) Although as you can see, I think imperfect layouts are pretty perfect, too (RUSTIC, we call it!) :)

New Groovy Chicks on the Scene!

We here at IIG  are very excited to bring a few more new chicks to our team!  First, please help  me welcome Kelly!
 DSC05232 - Blog avatar - BW
My name is Kelly and I live in Texas with my hubby of 14 years who is very supportive of my crafting habit. We have 2 boys ages 13 and 12 as well as a 2 year old puppy who is our baby. After my boys were born, I stayed at home and started a small home daycare. I’ve always had a love for art and paper since I was young, doodling on all my notebooks and cross stitching. I started collecting memorabilia back in high school to put in a scrapbook my Mom had created by painting on the pages. I enjoy mixing different paper lines, painting, distressing along with creating in clean lines. I am a big fan of using sketches for inspiration and enjoy learning new techniques. I also love making cards and occasionally altering items when time allows. Other hobbies I enjoy are reading, gardening, fishing, watching my boys play sports, and quilting. You can find more of my work at http://www.creatingwithpaperandmore.blogspot.com.

We also have Brenda!

Hello ! My name is Brenda Ragsdale and I am thrilled to be joining the If It's Groovy design team.
I am a native of California currently residing in Oregon. I am mother to two awesome adult sons and GrandDiva to two beautiful granddaughters and two handsome grandsons.

I prefer creating layouts, and will occasionally create a card or altered item. I would say that my style is more on the clean and simple side. I created my first scrapbook album in 2006 and then quit for a few years and did not seriously start scrapping again until the beginning of 2010. I am so glad that I became addicted to scrapbooking as it is the perfect way to record my family’s history and tell each family members personal story. I like scrapping the good, bad and the ugly stories and details as it is all a part of our daily existence.

I am looking forward to working with the team and members of IIG and seeing all of your beautiful creations.

My blog: GrandDiva’s Creative Corner

Next up is Wendy!
 DSC02526msbw
I have been a happy scrapper for 15 years now.  It helps that I have 3 willing subjects, my kids!  I have 2 girls (Brittany - 22 and Jessica -10) and my little guy (Jason -5).  With this age range, I can pretty much scrap just about every subject out there.  Which makes me a happy shopper,…I mean, scrapper.  :)  My style is pretty simple and clean, but I'm willing to try any technique at least once.  Nothing wrong with trying new things!

I'm so excited to be a part of this team!  Thanks for the chance and the challenges!

10 Things: Rochelle

We have added to our team here at If It's Groovy once again and I am so happy to introduce Rochelle to you! She has a little bio about herself as well as a layout to share with you for our challenge of the month!
Deb♥

Hello! My name is Rochelle Spears. After 15 years of Real Estate, I am currently a SAHM of 5 children (23, 19, 13, 6, and 4) that knows how to pose when they see a camera! :) I am a wife to a wonderful husband who supports my craft to the fullest! I have been scrapbooking for 9 years and I just can't get enough of it! I love product... the smell of new paper... I love seeing the creation in my mind come alive on my paper! I love putting the final touches on my layouts and the biggest love of all... is watching my husband pull out my scrapbooks when guests come over! :) Besides my family and scrapbooking, you will find me traveling, reading or watching Netflix! I love coffee in the morning, Mt. Dew during the day and chocolate at night. This is me, Rochelle. :) www.rochellespears.blogpspot.com

When I found out about this challenge, I couldn't wait to create this layout and express my love for my husband! We have been married for 7 years and I don't think I have ever did a layout quite like this one. He is definitely a wonderful man and there are way more "things" that I loved about him but just not enough room on my page!! LOL My journaling reads: "smooth, funny, passionate lover, great father, handsome, caring, honest, great provider, dedicated and the #1 thing I love about you is... Your Big Heart!"

This page was so much fun to create. I found this great sketch from Scrapbook Steals. I used the very fun "Be You" collection from Fancy Pants Designs. I wanted to use the transparency so bad because it's super cute!! I use my Elegant Edges Cricut cartridge to die cut the transparency. After that, everything else fell into place. The wood shape hearts from Studio Calico really put that extra love in the page! :)

Welcome to Our Newest DT Member~Pat!

I am pleased to announce that we have added a new designer to our Groovy Chicks team! Meet Pat, a wonderful designer who I am sure you too will love as much as I do :)
Deb♥

Hi I'm Pat, I live in VT with my husband Dale. We have 2 grown sons, a daughter- in- law, 2 precious granddaughters & a Shih-Tzu. I started scrapping when our 1st grand daughter was born 10 yrs ago. Once I figured out what I was doing, I knew this was the hobby for me I was in love!
I love learning new techniques, chatting with other scrappers & I love sketches.
Then I realized as my granddaughters got older & were looking through their albums, we are not just putting pictures on pretty paper we are documenting "our history". This is our lives, our joys, our tears, the good, & the bad for all future generations to see.
I am proud to be a scrap booker. The keeper of our history.

Farewell to Viji and a Mini Arts Project

Time on the DT here at IIG can move along so fast. Viji has been with us since August and now as she steps down I send a big thanks and wishes for a great outcome on your project at home! Your work is lovely and will be missed.

Before she goes here is a great project she has for us today. Enjoy!
Deb♥

Hi to all the lovely IIG supporters! This is my last post here as I have decided to leave IIG to take care of things at home. I thank each and everyone of you for letting me be a part of this fabulous team and for encouraging me through your comments.

I made baby shower favors for one of my friends recently. I used Pazzles to cut out the pattern and the scallop circles. This was my first 3D project and I loved how it turned out! I love pastel colors the heart on top of the box with the letters S are the initials of the mom & dad-to-be!! Just a little personalization.

Well, I hope all of you like it:) Thank you for all the love and support!

Signing off...
Viji

Welcome to the team Penny!

We would like to welcome Penny to The Groovy Chick team. As she joins us she has jumped straight in and completed her first challenge which is the one we all just completed with eyes. I think you will love how she interpreted this one :)

First some words from Penny:

Hi, my name is Penny Arnold, and I was SO excited when Deb invited me to join this wonderful design team. I hope to inspire you to create great new and different projects, as I am sure you will inspire me also. I have been scrapbooking since 1999, and love doing altered projects, and scrapbooking lot's of layouts of my spoiled rotten grandchildren Matthew, and Madison! I have been published twice, and have another project coming out soon in the July issue of the Cricut Magazine. I have been on two previous Design Teams for kit clubs. I live in a TINY town in TN, so I'm a southern girl, but I have lived in several states I have a great sense of humor, which I hope my first challenge layout shows! My personal blog can be found here: Scrap-aholic@blogspot.com, it is fairly new, but is has many projects loaded with detailed directions if you would like to try making one for yourself. I have been known to use ANYTHING and EVERYTHING on my layouts so be sure and look for unexpected items on my layouts. Hoping to meet you all soon! Love Penny

Now her awesome lo:

Cross Eye'ed Crazy Boy (the crazy word is printed on the tiny bar between the photos)
This is a layout of my grandson Matthew, while his sister loves to pose for the camera, he hates it, so I have to get whatever shots I want in a hurry. When he is done taking pictures, this is how he poses!

The journaling on the layout reads "This is how he looks at me when he's done taking pictures! Matthew 2008". All the items I used on this page I have had for a VERY long time with the exception of the K & Co. scalloped border, which I turned over so that you see the white (wrong) side. I added the checks to the die cut camera, and I also added a clear round disc to make it look like it had a lens. The "button" on the journal block is really a man's shirt snap. Love Penny

Welcome to our Newest Designer, Jean!

Some of you will have seen Jean on our blog a few times in the last week. She was our guest when she became the latest Pieces and Parts Designer, as well as helped us by participating in our birthday blog hop this past weekend :) WE are excited to start working with Jean and I know you will love her projects! Welcome Jean!

deI am here to prove that scrapping does not have to end just because your kids are growing up! I have a 28 year old daughter, Jennifer, who will be getting her PhD in May! She lives in Phoenix which is too far from Michigan. Rob, 23, graduated from college in May and works in Grand Rapids about 12 miles from home. He has an apartment in the city and wishes he were in Phoenix! Rob humors me by dying Easter eggs, going on pumpkin hunts, etc. all so I have photos to scrap. Jen is good at forwarding me photos of her life there so I can scrap that too. If I were to get caught up, there are always the old photos! I don't know that I have a particular style - it changes all the time. I also enjoy creating canvases. I look forward to meeting everyone here!

Make Your Own!

Silvana did! Wanna see? Also, just a little note of thanks to Silvana for her awesome term here at IIG! It has now come to an end. We saw amazing projects from her this past year and it has been great working with her!
Deb

Went I need a quick handmade embellishment to finish or to cordinate a project I'll just get a huge paper clip some scraps, ribbon or whatever I have on hand and make one like these ones in the picture.......is so easyyyyyyy probably only takes five minutes or less , I hope this idea is helpful and next time you need a emebellishment think of this.

Meet Tammy, Returning Designer

It's been awhile since Tammy has been a design team member here but we are welcoming her back with open arms! I know you will see why ;)
Deb♥

Hello...my name is Tammy. I make my home on the left coast, in Huntington Beach, CA (the O.C. LOL!). I live with my husband of 18 years, Eddie, and my 18 year old daughter Courtney and 15 year old son Hunter. My oldest, Jessica, is 26 and recently married. She lives in Northern California in beautiful Carmel. We also have an old black lab named Jake, a chubby beagle named Abby, and our female calico cat name Pablo. Fortunately we recently gave away our iguana! Unfortunately, our sweet chinchilla, Bob Saget, passed away last Christmas. We are going to stick to normal pets from now on ;)

I don't work outside the home, but help my husband out with our business, and recently opened an Etsy shop. I started scrapping about 10 years ago when my daughter Courtney was involved in musical theatre and was doing about 3 plays a year. The pictures were piling up, so my friend got me to start (I had dabbled in it, but not really getting everything into books). Little did she know what a monster she'd create! I love challenges, especially sketches. And I don't think I have a style...I sometimes will do a certain thing over and over till I get sick of it because I like the look...then I move on :) I bought a Cricut, but don't use it! I do like my Slice, and I love my punches. I also love fussy cutting...it's such an easy way to make embellishments that match your paper :) I also enjoy altered arts and card making.

I also love musical theatre...to watch ;) I have season tickets with a group of girlfriends, and look forward to our nights out, with dinner before. And when I love a show, I will see it often!! I've seen "Rent" more than 6 times, and "Wicked" at least 3. I have too many other favorites to name, but I just love them because the music makes them fun, does that make sense? Other than that, lately my husband and I have been "being tourists in our backyard"...seeing things locally that we either haven't yet, or it's been a long time. It's a fun way for us to spend time together.

Meet Sheena, Our Newest Designer!

Hi fellow scrappers! I am Sheena. I am from California. I am the mom of 2, my daughter, Ashley is 20 yrs old and my son, Devin, is 5 yrs old. I am married to a pretty awesome guy. Ken is very supportive of my hobby and I am thankful for that. I currently work part time as a pharmacy tech, so I get the best of both worlds, part of the day I feel like a SAHM and the other part of the day a working mom and the satisfaction that goes with it.

I starting scrapbooking about 13 years ago but even before I started “officially” I would always put little stickers on my photos telling what it was. I feel this hobby has enriched my life. I really enjoy telling the stories that go with the pictures and tapping into my creativity. In more recent years, I have really made my scrapbooks more of a priority and started playing with more techniques. One year ago I became a Fisk-a-teer and started sharing my work online. That has opened a whole new world to me. I am really enjoying sharing my work and seeing others’ work from all over the globe.
I look forward to being part of this team and creating with you all.

Goodbye Darlene

Saying goodbye to Darlene is difficult because she has been here at IIG for so long, but she is a busy mommy going to school, taking care of her little dollbaby, husband and expecting baby numero dos! We will sincerely miss her here at IIG, but wish her much success at anything she chooses :)
Deb♥

It's been quite a groovy journey these last 18+ months on this IIG train but sadly, my time here is coming to a close this month. I have really enjoyed all of the monthly challenges, very wonderful fellow groovy chicks DT, and all the encouraging comments on my works from the IIG followers!

IIG is my first DT position and I have seen my art evolve so much in little time thanks, in part, to all the many innovative challenges set by Groovy Deb! Off the top if my head, my favorite challenges have been the "sandwich" challenge, the "shadows" challenge, and most recently, the fabulous Raisin Boat sponsored projects! How fun were those!?

I've had a great time with IIG and I'll miss this team and the wonderful group of dedicated followers! You can continue to catch up with me on my personal blog, scrappygolucky.blogspot.com in the future to peak on my next works.

Thanks so much for the space and chance to hopefully inspire some of you! See ya'll around the blog world!

xoxo,
Darlene

Goodbye Doreen

We here at IIG are going to miss our good friend Doreen as she steps down from her IIG thrown, but wish her so much success at everything she is working on and the very best of great health!!!
Deb♥

Hi friends,

I have been a DT Member of “If It’s Groovy since November 2010.
“IIG” was my first ever DT and I have enjoyed every moment of it. Not only was it a fun way to get inspired and a way for me to “bust-out” of my comfort zone, but I made some new friends along the way. I am leaving, not because I don’t want to be a part of this Team any longer, but because I want to open up a space to allow another person to join and experience all the fun I have had.

Deborah asked me if I want to leave some parting words for our followers.
Of course I do but it’s been so hard to think of something to write because even though it is my decision to part ways with “If It’s Groovy”, it still makes me sad.

So what to say?
I guess “Thank You” would be the appropriate thing to say.
>“Thank you”, Deborah, for taking a chance on me and allowing me to be part of your group.
> “Thank You”, to my Fellow Team Mates, for inspiring me and making me laugh! Some of you did that on a daily basis (Heather, Darlene!)
> “Thank You”, Followers, for checking in and leaving love on my projects.

And Although I will no longer be a DT member I will still be stopping by from time to time.
Can't wait to meet the new members and see what scrappy goodness they have to share!
Wishing you much love and happiness!
~Doreen~ <3

Meet Groovy Chick Michelle!

I would love to introduce our newest Groovy Chick to you today :) This is Michelle!
Lets take a peek into her world...

Hi! I'm Michelle! I grew up surrounded with some type of crafting: sewing, recycled kids crafts, cross-stitching, painting, jewelery and that's just a start of the list. I got into scrapbooking after I took a class at a Local Scrap Store. My picture stash had photos of travels with boyfriend(now husband) and my bridal shower. Well, of course we scrappers know there are so may more events that will follow a bridal shower that feed the addiction to scrapping. So, to date the key players in my scrapping are: my husband, Gerry; my 4 year old daughter, Rebecca(Becky); my 1 year old son, Lucas(Luke) and our dogs, Bailey and Skipper "the boys."
We live "at the shore" in New Jersey and there is usually some type of sound exiting our active home. Music mostly; Country genre or my 4 year olds newest song she has came up with!

So, I have been scrapping for about 6 years. Started card making about 2 years ago and made it a goal to make every card I give or use the stash I have from doing card swaps with scrappy friends. My style seems to vary on my favorite new techniques that just stick. So, I love distressing and inking. I have grown to love Challenges, which I used to shy way from! I find I get more focused and completely finish a project that is a challenge. I enjoy cooking and baking on occasion, history and traveling, camping and hiking, relaxing outdoors, reading and recently the search of my genealogy. I have been working on a scrap area/place/space/room of my own but it includes the home computer and a guest bed. So my space always is shifting or used for those "items with no true place to call home".... I am very excited to be a Groovy Chick for If It's Groovy. Look forward to creating and getting inspiration from being a part of the Design Team.I started a blog this year. So, stop by and follow at http://scrapbookingsos.blogspot.com

So Long to Natalie

It is with much sadness I say so long to my dear online friend and groovy designer, Natalie. She has been here at IIG for over a year now and I have grown to care so much about her that I am already missing her! She is a beautiful person in and out and it shows in her art work each time I see something new. Please help me to say farewell as we bid her adieu.

Love ya Girl!
Deb♥

My 3 year old is a very dear person to me. I do tell her all the time. There will come a day where doubt will creep into her mind when I am long gone and she'll need some personal touch from me to keep her going. The letter I wrote to her just mentions a few of the things I love about her. It reads:
We've had some difficult times together during the last couple years. I've never been a mom before to a 2-3 year old and well, you're just being you! You are truly a gift from God! I love you...all of you! I love how you do everything in your own way. Mixing and matching what you see in the world and putting your own spin on it. I love how you run around naked before we can get you dressed or into PJs! I think it's funny how you love to brush your teeth 10 times a day if I'd let you! You are one of the cleanest kids I know! I love spending time with you, especially when we're both able to figure out what it is you really want! We are a great team! When I make bread or cookies, you just want to taste the batter and do the dishes! You love putting away the silverware while I put away the other dishes. I love how you love God! I watch you as you grow to know Him, and ask, "Why did God create us?" at three and a half years old! To which I reply, "So He could have a relationship with us, plain and simply, a Holy, loving relationship!" You amaze me on a daily basis and I would never want my life to be any different! I love being your mom, you bring out the best in me and sometimes, well, you know! Love, Mom

I used my Cricut Imagine to make the 12 x 12 paper background, the bracketed box floral designed paper, the title and sun as well as the envelope. I used Better Together cartridge for the Imagine and the envelope was made with patterned paper from the Imagine and then I used my Gypsy and Plantin Schoolbook for the envelope. I inked the edges of the bracketed box, put Stickles on the sun and title and inked the edges of the pictures after I used my Fiskars scissors to scrape the edges. I used rivets and my Crop-o-dile Big Bite to set them within the pictures. I used buttons from Wal-Mart and fiber for the envelope as well as page embellishments. The photos were printed on my Epson Picture Mate Deluxe printer this time. Hope you are inspired to include a layout like this in your albums often! Natalie

After 3 Months

From where I sit I think a lot can change in three months. Usually when we have a new designer here at If It's Groovy, the term is for three months and we are able to see a lot of great projects provided during that rein ") This has been no exception with Sarah. She gave us a look into the her life and now her life is getting bigger as she will welcome a new baby in just a few months down the road. Let's enjoy her lo and pregnancy with her and she shares with us an amazing layout she created for us this month.

In Sarah's Words:

Dear Love:
I don't know what you'll look like, how you'll behave, or even whether you're a boy or a girl. One thing I do know is that I love you so much. When we found out that we were pregnant with you, we were so excited. You're big sister, Caylan, is excited too. She talks to you and kisses my belly all the time. We still have 6 months until we can meet you and we can't wait to welcome you into our family. You're already in our hearts and we love you very much!
Love,
Dad, Mom, and Caylan

Meet The Newest Groovy Chick, Doreen

If It's Groovy is uber excited to have added a new member to our team and it is time to introduce this lovely lady! Meet Doreen!

Hello!

Allow myself to introduce….myself… :0)

My name is Doreen… I have no nicknames, well none that I can share… my hubby has one for me that is cute but might offend - LOL!

I have been married to the love of my life, David, since July 2001, so that makes us married…over 9 years.

I have 2 kids: Joseph (15yrs) and Madison, or Madi as we like to call her, (9yrs in January).

We have 3 fur-babies: a mutt named Spotty, a boxer named Daisy, and a poodle named Ivanna.

We have had Spotty for a number of years but Daisy and Ivanna came to us last year when my Grandpa died and we took them in. Ivanna is my buddy and when I am home we are literally inseparable!

We also have 3 goldfish: Marbles, Bubbles, and Orangey --- but don't ask me to tell you which is which – LOL!

I work full-time as a Payroll Supervisor for the County of Riverside . I have worked for the County, in various positions for over 13 years.

In my spare time, which is rare, I love to scrap, read, watch my favorite shows: "Grey's Anatomy", "Private Practice", " Cougar Town " and "Supernatural" and take naps (I really need my sleep!).

I was born in Spain but came to the US when I was around 5 years old. Since being here I have lived in Southern, CA. Spanish was my first language, but since I did move here at a young age, I do not know any Spanish.

I love all kinds of music, I'm not really picky, but I prefer dance music.

I have been scrapping since Joseph was a wee-one, but have really taken it more seriously w/in the last 3 or so years. I enjoy it, a-lot! Almost to the point where it's an obsession! :0) I need to watch it before my friends and family decide to hold an in intervention!

I am very excited to join the Groovy Chicks and look forward to the inspiration I know I will be receiving from them. I just hope I will be able to inspire as well.

Well, as you can see I love to `talk' but I must stop before I turn this intro into a novel!

Thanks for having me and I am looking forward to seeing where this new chapter in my life takes me.

Hugs and kisses xoxoxo
