Faithbooking by Heather

One thing I promised God when I opened this blog was that I would use my hobby as a way to share His message so I really love it when one of the Groovy chicks make a Faithbooking layout for us! Today Heather has created this one with a beautiful verse that I know will also inspire you! Deb♥ A beautiful fall day at Conner Prairie, a picture of my hubby and I one week before our 11th anniversary, and the feel of God all around us was the inspiration for this layout. The verse, Proverbs 3:6, says "Listen to God's voice in everything you do and everywhere you go. He's the one that will keep you on track." This is what Shane and I strive for every day. I won't say that it is always easy, because it definitely is not. We have had our many struggles but God has kept us strong and committed to one another. We must keep seeking him daily and His will for our lives.

Faithbooking with Groovy Deb♥

I brought back a group over on the Fiskateer board called Fiskateers with Faith. Basically it is a group I put together a couple of years ago whereby I start each month with a scripture from the bible and we all make any kind of project using the verse.

This month I chose Matthew 5:8 and since I use the KJV here is that verse:

Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.

Isn't it true that we can see God everywhere if we just look? I see itin her and the magnificent surroundings she sits in undert hat enormous tree.

I like it enough to write it directly on the photo of Groovy Kid Designer Katelyn while she was sitting under this beautiful tree gazing while we were at the state fair. Love the pics and did a little doodling around them too. Thanks for coming by to take a look.If you would like to join us by playing along each month we would love to have you, just let me know~Deb♥

Faithbooking Proverbs 22:1

An important part of scrapbooking for me is to document my values. It is so easy to just add something with special meaning to a layout and keep for a legacy to my children. This layout was made after attending a Powwow and I thought Proverbs 22:1 was the perfect verse to add. It reads "A good reputation, based upon what a person is in his dealings with others, is certainly of greater worth in God's eyes than wealth." I am in touch with my Native American ancestry and in my opinion a good reputation and character is a necessity, so this was a good choice I thought!

Message On My Hand: Groovy Deb♥

Time for our new challenge!!!

As list mom here at If It's Groovy I try to constantly strive to come up with interesting challenges for the Groovy Chicks and all of you who choose to play along with us. Since I have been scrapbooking for such a long time I also like and need the challenge to myself. I am so excited about the challenge this month as it gives us a chance to share with all of you and those looking at our scrapbooks something important from our hearts. For me I chose to work on a Faithbooking page because I want to make sure my scrapbooks reflect that my faith is of utmost importance to me. I chose to write Romans 10:9 as it sums up exactly what the Bible has written for all of us to know exactly how we can one day go home to Heaven :)Here is what I came up with :) TFL! Come out and play with us. You have until August 31 to email me at groovydeb@yahoo.com with your entry. A prize? Of course!!!

What is Your BirthVerse?

Heather and I have been working together here at IIG for a very long time and she never stops amazing me with her projects! This one below is a great example of that! I have a soft place for Faithbooking layouts. Read on!

p.s. My BirthVerse is:

Psalm 9:9 NIV
The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.
I Like It! Definately planning a lo with that...thanks Heather!
Deb♥

Did you know that everyone has a Birth Verse? It's true! You can find out what your verse is at www.birthverse.com. Proverbs 4:27 is my triplets birth verse. It says (NIV): "Do not swerve to the right or left; keep your foot from evil."

I had the perfect pic of my boys' feet while they were laying on the floor watching cartoons. I thought it would be really cool to scrap that picture with their birth verse.

I had a lot of fun with this lo. I didn't want to "grunge" it up too much but I am not sure I know how to do a layout otherwise! (haha) I had some fun using grungeboard in ways I hadn't before.

On the grungeboard flourishes, I embossed them with walnut strain distress embossing powder. After it dried, I wiped a little off with my finger and then too walnut stain distress ink back over it.

On the grungeboard arrows, I painted them white. When dried, I sanded the top just a little. I then took walnut stain distress ink over the top and worked it into the embossed grungeboard. I then took a wet papertowl over the top lightly to take a little of the ink back off and make it look more whitewashed.

I used Basic Gray Recess collection. The title was created on my gypsy. The verse was printed on my computer and then I layered it on a Technique Tuesday tile and sanded and inked.

Why not look up your birth verse or someone in your family and create a layout incorporating the verse? I plan to do one for each member in my family!

Hans Christian Andersen: Groovy Deb♥

Hey Everyone! It's my turn to show my HCA layout :)

Pictured is my daughter who loves having her pictures taken! Ya know when she was little I had to actually *force* her into letting me take pics of her. I remember being in Nags Head, NC and telling her if she did not let me take pictures of her while there that she could not go to the playground! Well, that was ten years ago and here she is now and my how things have changed! Her close friend takes these beautiful photos of her all the time :)

Since she is getting close to adult age I decided to add on a Bible verse on this layout to give some advice that I hope she will keep close :)

Let me share that with you as well! It is the reason I chose "A Leaf from Heaven" as my title from Hans himself!

Psalm 1:3
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Pretty right?

SHOUT OUT TO MY HUSBAND: HAPPY BIRTHDAY HUSBAND! I ♥ U!!!

TFL!

A friend of mine, Denise, made this adorable little apron (and many others!) for an event where these were given to the women at her church for a special event. I asked her if I could share it with you. With the many holidays coming up this may be of interest to you when thinking of place cards for some of the women's activities you may be involved in too :) Thanks to Denise!

Psalm 121 on the Wall

I love that we have the blessing of talented Christian women on the design team here at If It's Groovy. Let me share with you a layout from Vanessa today and what she has to say about her awesome project!
Deb♥

I have always loved scripture. My family life, my youth, my young adult hood, and now my own family is lead and directed by the Word of God. Even in my "wild and woolie" days... in times of trouble or distress scriptures I learned as a child would be of comfort.

I am also a quote person.... I love to look up quotes on different subjects. And when I read books I write a lot of things down. I have journal upon journal filled with quotes and saying and then my thoughts on them.

In this LO, I am using what many people call a "life verse". You may have a "life quote". Basically it is words that upon any and every situation in your life... it brings your comfort, gives you meaning, and assures you that it will be ok. It sums up who you are and what you are about.

For me it is the 121st Psalm. There is also a recording by the Brooklyn Tabernacle choir of this scripture.. find it on YouTube... it's amazing!

I challenge you, to think about what your Life Verse/Quote would be and to create a LO for it. You can use a photo or not. I chose not to use a photo, but just to focus on the verse. I think I may frame this one and keep in in my view in my home! Join me, won't you?

ALPHAbets with Jami Lynn

Our Father in Heaven has many names, not to mention ALPHA which ties into our theme this month of Alphabet Overload. Two different subjects yes, and two that I love :) I am so happy to bring this lo to you created by our one and only Jami Lynn. I know you will appreciate this one too!
Deb♥

And from Jami Lynn:

I think it's pretty clear where the inspiration for my alphabet overload LO came from, but unless you are one of a handful of people in my innermost circle,
you wouldn't know why...well, until now anyway. Ever since childhood, (which is as far back as I can remember), I have desired a relationship with God.
I always knew he was there, but I never really felt like he was with me. Not until a couple of months ago anyway.

I was sitting at the computer when a prayer request came to me from one of my friends--Groovy Deb--for her father who was in the hospital.
I hadn't been one to pray all that often and most times I'll admit I felt foolish, unsure of what to say and not even sure if God was listening when I did pray,
but I sincerely wanted him to hear me this time. So I decided to say a prayer and lift up her father's name and while I was doing that I came to the realization
that I too needed Jesus in my life. I broke down on the spot as tears began falling from my eyes and admitted that I didn't want to be alone anymore & that I wanted to know Him.
Suddenly out of nowhere this unbelievable calming presence came over me and a thought was brought to the forefront of my mind to get up and go into the next room and ask Paul,
(my soon-to-be-DH who is a Christian), to pray with me. Realizing that this must be the Lord speaking to me, trying to help me understand that I had been heard, I obeyed.
I went and told Paul what had just happened and asked him to read me some scriptures from his Bible about how to pray for forgiveness and salvation and how to accept Christ as my Savior.
Afterward, he said a prayer for me and then I prayed my own prayer of Salvation and accepted Jesus Christ into my heart.

The next day I woke up with this craving for Jesus that I've never had before. I decided to get myself a new bible. I picked out a NKJV Study Bible and a daily devotional to get started with.
I went to church a few days later for the first time in years and I've been going every Sunday ever since. I am to be Baptized this coming Sunday, June 27th.
My life has changed more in the last 2 months than it has in the last 2 or 3 years all due to nothing of my own doing except following His lead and obeying His Word.
It's so GREAT not to be without God anymore and I look forward to a lifetime of learning and serving Him.

John 15:5

This month we have a transition on our Faithbooking team as we move Vanessa over to lead our Dollbabies team, but we still have Marci and Anna to share two very unique and beautiful layouts based on the bible verse John 15:5 - I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. I think each layout is a fine representation of the meaning of this verse and how it is intended in our lives. Enjoy!

Reading from the Psalms

Marci, Anna and Vanessa have made layouts for us to take a look at this month using the Bible verse Psalm 69:30 that reads in the KJV:
I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.

If you enjoy reading the NIV the words were written this way:
I will praise God's name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving.

Each of the Groovy Chicks have shown great ways to represent their interpretations. Marci's is the first layout and then you will see Anna's and Vanessa's.

If you would like to create a layout using this verse and share it here, please let me know by email and I will happily add it :) Have a great SONday!

Canvas Faithbooking with Debbie

Lead Faithbooking Artist Debbie has a new project for us this morning. Here is her canvas layout with an extra copy of the enlarged area of the detailing as well as a supply list.

"Original Acrylic painting by me on canvas, I used the sewing machine around the frame of the painting and a Prima notepad journalling page with Heidi grace Chipboard letters and pen. With feet eyelets."
John 6:19 So When they had rowed about 3 or 4 miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near the boat; and they were afraid
"My interpretation: Many of us are afraid of anything that is different to what we are used to. All we need to do is ask if Jesus himself is in this or not. These days, I rely on myself alot more than God. And that is dangerous. I really should concentrate on what he wants for my life for it is better than what I imagine for myself. This for me is the "seeing Jesus walk on the water moment" - I am afraid. Its different to what I am used too. I must trust him though with my whole heart."
