Orange Blog Hop

Welcome to the Third Annual Fiskateers ORANGE Blog Hop!  If you're hopping along, you should have come from Cindy's.  (If you are joining us in the middle, go to www.fiskateers.com to start from the beginning.)

Today we are celebrating Fiskars' signature color, ORANGE.  Almost everyone is familiar with Fiskars' famous orange-handled scissors, but Fiskars makes so many other wonderful products for crafting, sewing, gardening, and more.  Each stop along our Hop will feature different Fiskars' products with a big helping of ORANGE!

For you I have made a Halloween wreath where I have used my Seal of Approval Squeeze Punch. I adore the squeeze  punches because they are so easy to use that even if you have Arthritis you will find them easily operated :) Sorry about the glare on picture 3 but because of the lights I cannot get a better one :/

Here is a picture of the punch I used today:

Happy Turkey Day?

LOL! Thanksgiving seems so far away, but in reality it isn't too far down the road so why not do like Penny has done and create a card ahead of time? No sense being pressed at the last minute :)

For this simple little card, I used a Fiskar's border punch, but instead of using the punch on the card's edge, I used it instead on the inner mat, then I added the K & Co. gold border strips. There is a reason the inner part of this card is white, it's because the small sticker had a white border around it and I didn't want to try and fussy cut it off. (I know that's cheating, but it gives the card a much better look when you are done.  The inside of the card has a matching sticker that say's "Happy Thanksgiving". The sticker sheet these came from is REALLY old, so it felt good to finally find it a home.
Supplies:
K & Co border strips
Fiskar's Lace Border Punch
Orange, brown, and white cardstock
Really old Hallmark sticker sheet

Donna Summer Tribute

Sadly we lost a famous singer again this year and I remember well her music from the Disco Days! Her music was upbeat and really catchy. To say goodbye to this Disco Queen I have created this layout of my girls on a bowling date for my niece's birthday and titled it "Hot Stuff" which was one of the goodies but oldies by Donna Summer.
I like to use the gallon, quart, pint, ounce method for color on my projects. To help stick with this method I added color using a technique that was out of necessity. My alphabet letters for the title would not stick very well so I broke out the Elmer's glue and mixed a little bit of acrylic paint right into the glue. It tinted my glue just enough to brush over the letters and bring out some of the color that needed to become my ounce of color. I painted the bracket using the same inky glue and left it a little darker and drippier. Give it a try; It's so much fun! I used another favorite Fiskars punch on this one in a non traditional way too. I punched and ripped it up a little to distress my punching. This punch is called the Notebook Border Punch. Get one! They are very cool!

Tag!

Over our special holiday, National Scrapbook Day, I had the utmost pleasure of driving to a store in Northern VA called Scrapdoodles!

So much fun to spend my favorite non-Christian holiday doing what I love!!! I found lots of new scrappy goodies that I am looking forward to using and sharing on my projects here :)

Fiskateers was having an online crop and although I did not have a lot of time to participate I did make a little tag that was fun for me and used a new gymnastics sticker that I found at Michael's last week. Our instructions were to use a punch as a stencil so I used Fiskars Cloud Squeeze punch

then attached it to the tag, painted over it, let dry then removed the clouds which were now white :)

Here is how it turned out and now I just need to get pictures of Katelyn this coming week/weekend during her recital performing gymnastics and I will be able to add to my layout. I love getting layouts ready before the pictures are even taken!!!

Have a good night!
