Kitties are Cute!

Awww! Look at Heather's kitty!
Deb♥

I have found someone (or should I say something?) that loves my Tim Holtz cases as much as I do!!! My cat Jazmin! When I open up my case to use my distress inks, Jaz has decided that the open case is where she should nap! I keep telling my husband that I want to have a little girl that will scrapbook with me . . . well, I guess I got her . . . because this is the closest I am going to get! lol

Peek-A-Boo Page by Groovy Kid Designer, Katelyn

Kid designer,Katelyn has brought to us a layout today that she designed and is quite proud of! She loves that she has a peek-a-boo element to show her special kitty hiding there under the open frame and in the picture of Susannah. According to Katelyn when I asked her what she has to say about her layout she said" This is my baby and I want to show her picture again!" Kids and their pets!

Welcome Rocky!

I am an animal love and LOVE every time one of the Groovy Chick create a pet layout. Here is one that is sure to be a big hit in your eyes too that has been created by Rochelle!

Rochelle said this:
Last month we added another special member to our family..... Rocky! We got him on vacation while visiting my sister in Colorado, hence how he got his name! :) I couldn’t wait to create my first layout with him. This collection I used, Bo Bunny’s Little Miss Collection has a little doggie that looks just like my Rocky! I thought it would be prefect!

I started by editing my photo to Sepia so that I would match the paper better. I used Martha Stewart punches to create the borders. Distressing the edges added a little shabbiness to the layout while adding dimension too. I fussy cut the imagine of the girl walking the dog, popped it up a bit and added a little tough of Glossy Accents to the pearls and bow. Another fun part of this layout as the lace flower I made. I took some crochet lace and spiraled it around on the Glubber. I added a button and bling to the center. That was it! :) Lastly, because I love twine so much, I had to add it around the rosettes for an added touch. :)

Alphabets and Numbers

We all have so many alphabets and numbers in excess don't we? For me that includes my foam stamps! I love my Li'l Davis Designs foam stamps called Printer's Block. Correction, LOVE. They are all close to 2" or smaller. Over on the Fiskateer board through this weekend there is a Stamp Out online crop where all projects must include stamps. I made this one based on the challenge to use alphabets and numbers. Katelyn is sharing dinner with Selah, so glad to have my camera nearby for this one. Kids!

April Challenge, PEN AND PAPER by Deb♥

Hi Challenge Lovers!

This month we here at IIG have a new challenge that we hope you will like. It is actually pretty simple because it is one that goes old school. I asked the girls to do the following:
You may choose to use patterned paper but
make sure that your ink of choice can show up.
You can use any type of ink such as markers,
pen(cil), gel pens, as long as it is a writing
instrument. Put your thinking cap on and go
old school before we had all of the
embellishments we have today,
but make it feel current :)

I chose to scrapbook some of my favorite old pics of my precious dog that I loved so much. Those old school pics can be so hard to scrapbook using embellies we find today. The colors seem to be so off to me. This became the perfect time to scrapbook these photos of us :) I used a stencil to doodle in white then just scratched in more of the white gel to add more color and drew lines around the edges. Simple.

Hope you will show us what you can do with this challenge too!

Pink and the Boys ;)

So darling! Michelle has cute babies!!!
Deb♥

Pink is not just for girls! For this page it worked out perfect! I had this cute photo enlarged of my Son and our dog, Skipper napping. Since they had a pillow with pink in it....and my Green, Yellow & Blue need a little pop, in came the Pink! It worked great because I could include the little pink heart on the dog bones and the heart I inked my subtitle on! For the cut outs I used A Child's Year Cricut cartridge and inked up the edges with Chocolate ink to give them some more character! Stamped out the Title "Nap Time" using Poster Board Alpha Set from Close To My Heart, fussy cut them out and attached with foam pop dots.

A Beautiful Layout from Natalie

From the oversized tag to the chipboard letters and beautiful pics...this is a great lo with a great message as well. Natalie reminds us of something important. Contact your local Humane Society or shelter if you are looking for a life-long pet, but be sure to ask how the animal you pick is with other members of families such as children and other pets. They will do your best to provide the proper info and connect you with a friend with fur!
Deb♥

This layout was hard to make. The day before I did it, I had to relinquish the cat in the picture, to the Humane Society in our county. He was a lovey kitty, but very aggressive. He had bitten me twice, once I excused because he had been riled up by our older cats as we were trying to acclimate him into our home. He was a feral cat and we were trying to domesticate him. He sealed his fate the other day by attacking my daughter in our yard and biting her several times and scratching her on the abdomen. She admitted to poking him and playing a little rough. She is only 3 and I had to choose. Letting a cat overrun our yard where we want to be free from fear or give him away. There are many people in our county with land and they get these cats and feed them. We did neuter him to begin with as we wanted to help stop the feral cat problem as much as we could.

My daughter loves to play outside and plant things, now she can without the fear of being bitten or harassed. Let this remind all of us that it is oh so important to support the efforts of your local animal advocate groups in spaying and neutering feral cats and adopting animals from shelters. Both of my indoor cats consist of a shelter rescue and a feral rescue.

The layout is inspired from one of my sketches. I used my Cricut and Gypsy to cut out the title, bird, and birdcage. The title is from Storybook cart, and the bird and cage are from Serenity. The large "tag" has a pocket behind it holding a letter to my daughter explaining what happened and why we had to let the kitty go. I inked the edges of everything and used the Xyron 1.5" Create a Sticker for attaching the letters to the page. 3D pop dots where used with the bird and cage.

It looks as though birds are still trending this year and I patterned mine after an uncaged canary!

SUGAR COOKIE: Heather

We are so lucky to have received a great pet page today from Heather using the Nikki Sivils sketch. Notice the rolled down corner? Cute huh? A great way to add distressing to a great layout! Check out the second lo she made as well...darling children aren't they? The b/w pic really is a great idea with this line don't ya think?
Deb♥

Upon receiving our goodies from Nikki, I knew exactly what I wanted to scrap!!! Having all boys in my house, it's not often that I get to scrap with hearts and pink! However, brown and pink together are my fave colors!!! So, when I opened this packet up, I knew I was going to scrap a picture of my new Christmas gift, the only other female in my house, my new kitten Jasmine aka Jaz!

I cut the heart smaller then it was originally and then distressed the edges. After distressing the edges, I misted the top right corner and the bottom point with water. After that, I rolled the paper and then used my heat tool to dry it so it would stay rounded. I then distressed the other papers that I used. I punched the heart in top left corner out and then added some Glossy Accents to the heart. I LOVED the canvas buttons that were included. I didn't want it even though (odd for an OCD person, I know!) so I included the 3 buttons on one side and put the one lonely button on the other side!

The only thing I used that was not from the Sugar Cookie collection was the lace that I already had in my scrap ribbon jar. I loved the little pink letters and so those were a MUST on this lo!!!

So, now you can finally see, my first ever layout of my new precious kitten!

Surviving the Odds

Grab a tissue! Sarah has a story for us...
Deb♥

My sweet dog, Annabelle, has been through the ringer. We adopted her when she was a year old. Three weeks after bringing her home, a small tumor popped up on her cheek. I cried all the way to the vet's office. They removed it and it was benign. Then, a couple of years later, she got heartworms. That was very scary. We treated her and she beat it, although it was hard on her. She's my little survivor! I wanted to create a page that documented how strong and fearless she is. My sweet Annabelle is most definitely a survivor!

One thing I did on this page which I have not done before is stamp over a picture. I overlapped the floral stamp onto the picture and I love the way it turned out. Have you tried stamping on a picture? You should!

What to do with 1 Set of Coordinating Papers?

I challenged myself to sit down with one set of papers all coming from the same collection and create. The only "rule" was that each would include the same line of papers and have one added color for interest. I came up with some unusual layouts that covered many different time frames from me as a teenager using pink

to a layout of my kitty Zorro using torquoise.

Many times I sit down while watching TV with no exact idea in mind of which picture will end up there. It works for me, what can I say?

I then thought I would use one of the papers but cut it out into a shape and use yellow as the color of choice. I had this picture sitting idly by for 3 years and now it has finally been put into my little dollbaby's album :)

Here is the same Dollbaby on her first Christmas as I used red with these papers

Now that you have seen what I did with an entire paper collection, I challenge you to do the same with the papers you have been hoarding :)

TFL!

Killer Cookie

I have three words to introduce you to the project Darlene is sharing this month: LOL!!! Read on in her words...
Deb♥

My cat Cookie is super fierce with strangers!!! She has never been abused or neglected or anything like that, yet she shows aggression around anyone who doesn't live here! I had a lot of fun with the yellow LilyBee background paper (which I splattered MUCH paint all over) and then I splattered all over 3 sheets of scrap paper to make the rest of the layout. I just stitched right through most of the layers and hardly used any adhesive. It was very calming to do this layout although it shows the angry side of my sweet kitty. :)

Here is the journaling I included at the bottom of the layout:

Cookie is the sweetest and most gentle house cat around her own family (Chris, Alyy, and me) but she gets so protective and angry when we have company over, usually shes more aggressive around females, of any age. She will instantly assume her defensive stance, puff her tail up, perk her ears up, hiss, scratch, and attack people as soon as they enter the house. Cookie is fierce!! She is our guard cat! Watch out for this killer Cookie! You've been warned.

:)

15 Years in the Making

It is SO hard to believe how fast time passes. When I woke up this morning I immediately was taken back to 15 years ago, because today is the birthday of my first-born. I hardly can believe she is this much closer to being an adult so, like a few days ago when I shared her baby sister's birthday here...two days apart...what?!?! I would also like to share a moment from that special time back in 1995 :) This was the day we brought her home and our kitty, Allie Boo Boo, (we miss you Girl) had the chance to meet Kristen.

Happy Birthday Kristen, Momma Loves YOU!
