Faithbooking with Groovy Deb♥

I brought back a group over on the Fiskateer board called Fiskateers with Faith. Basically it is a group I put together a couple of years ago whereby I start each month with a scripture from the bible and we all make any kind of project using the verse.

This month I chose Matthew 5:8 and since I use the KJV here is that verse:

Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.

Isn't it true that we can see God everywhere if we just look? I see itin her and the magnificent surroundings she sits in undert hat enormous tree.

I like it enough to write it directly on the photo of Groovy Kid Designer Katelyn while she was sitting under this beautiful tree gazing while we were at the state fair. Masking Project

Hi Groovy Friends! Ya know it is so important to try new things now and then. When I first tried masking I thought I would never "get it". I never turn down a challenge though so I tried the turning my ink pad upside down and bounced it over an image. Nothing too exciting. I want to find techniques that make me feel happy :) like when we visit a new scrapbook store that we did not know existed, but then all of sudden it is on your vacation route (sort of lol!).


I did hear angels sing when I discovered Glimmer Mist and Screens!!!

They are the bom! Seriously!

Lately I have been designing for a new and upcoming blog called Let's Get Peachy and we were asked to create a layout this month with masking. Wanna see what I did using those products I just mentioned and my faithful Sharpie?

Absolutely Incredible Kid Day® Challenge: Groovy Deb♥

I made this layout some time ago but I wanted to bring it back out since it has been a long time since my kids saw it and because I met our sponsor of the month, Guylaine, when we were in a doodle group together :) I doodled the entire page and painted it with acrylic paints and added gold embossing powder which was heat set to the fairy. I used black marker over the paint to journal to my girls. Hope it inspires you to create a letter of your own and to break out the paints if you have not done so for awhile :)

Happy Absolutely Incredible Kid Day® !!!

Paint Blob Aliens

Do you ever reach the bottom of an acrylic paint bottle and just cannot throw it away because you are a scrapper or painter and that is a no-no? Well invite a kid over and here is a fun project to help use up all the paint that sits in the bottom of those bottles!






Here are the very simple instructions on what to do:

1.Turn the paintlook.

2. Set another piece of paper on top that paper with the paint blobs and smooth it out. Practice touching it lightly or harder in some areas to give it a different look.


3. Gently peel the top piece off.

4. Set each paper aside to dry.

5. When dry, doodle around the outside with a darker color than you used and decorate as you wish.

The "Twins" in the pic with my daughter show how they are the top and bottom pieces of paper after peeling.

A Dandy Doodling Kelly

This month Kelly is sharing a doodled layout. Doodling can be intimidating to so many just doing it on their scrapbook paper, but Kelly took it to another level by doodling ON her pictures. Read about the important cause and about her layouts below.

In the words of Kelly:

I dare you to doodle. I know that many of my photos are not works of art. In fact, many of them have been saved by a smidge from being deleted. But, being a scrapbooker, I think like a scrapbooker. Sometimes, there are events that I want to capture and remember and the photos are “OK”. This layout is one of those events.























There was an “Extreme Make-over Home Edition” type event in a nearby town. A house was renovated for a single mom with 3 children. Two of the children have cerebral palsy and use wheelchairs. The event became an episode of Dateline NBC that aired a couple of months ago. As part of the original event, there was a “thank-you” concert that my daughter was part of. These pictures fell into that “OK” category. I doodled the title of the page. I doodled around the page. I even doodled on the photo. Yes, ON the photo. That boring, beige wall isn’t so boring anymore. Go ahead…I dare you to doodle.

Junk it Up!

Do you ever have leftovers in the scrap room and just do not know what to do with them? I say Junk it Up! That's what I did with this layout. I randomly grabbed things from my containers and punched moi-self out with a Fiskars Lever Punch, added some doodles, then Presto a junky page that was F-U-N! Give it a try~there is a lot of freedom when creating like this!!!

IT's FINALLY here!!! National DOODLE Day!!!

One of the happiest days of the year, for me, is finally here!!! It is National Doodle Day!!!

I have long loved the art of doodling and when I found a cause that also used this art form to help those who needed help with NF I thought this foundation deserved the Eu de Groovy Stamp of approval on this one ;)

Stress Relief~Doodle Style!

Do you practice Zen? Zen for all sakes and purposes = meditation. When we focus on something that helps reduce our stress then we benefit. For me that come sin many forms: word searches, reading my bible, walking and doodling!


My family has recently had the misfortune of having my dad hospitalized. Although he is doing much better now he did spend 13 days in there and after many, many tests, cases upon cases of Saline, enormous amounts of blood taken and several blood transfusions they got to the bottom of his issues and I believe due to many prayers said on his behalf, he is now on the road to recovery and I could not be happier. I mean that's my dad!

While he had to have a surgery during his stay in the hospital I brought my pens, markers, pencils and paper and had the family doodling and working on Zentangles. This has been a favorite way to pass time of mine for years. Here is a Zentangle I did to help calm my nerves that morning of his surgery. I call it: Waiting

Zentangles!!!

How many of you are familiar with the term "zentangle"? It is a form of doodling whereas you create art and use the power of zen at the same time! How cool is that? On this example I created huge flowers by drawing them with my marker and then created little patterns inside each leaf~all unique in design. Wanna give it a try? Show me! Come over to the NING board

A Perfect Match

Ah yes remember back around 1999 when the ever now famous white gel pen came along? I was heavy into pen pal letter writing and had to have gel pens of every color but even then as it is today white gel was my favorite. My challenge to you this month is to create something with black and white. It is classic, simple and stands out in an amazing way too :)
