Meet Colleen: Pieces and Parts Designer

I am pleased to share some projects with you made by Colleen, our newest Pieces and Parts Designer of the day :) Before getting to those let's get to know her a little bit with her answer to what makes her a groovy chick :)
Deb♥

I have been married for 22 ½ years, we have 2 daughters Sarah 18 and Kristen 12. Most of my scrapbooking is stuff for my daughters. They are both involved in dance, 4-H, band and choir, and other activities at school. I am the at-risk coordinator for the high school that I teach in. This means that I spend my day working with students who are at-risk. It is so nice to know that you have had a part in helping high school students. I just wish that we were able to get through to all of the students and that we didn’t lose any of them. Besides teaching high school and chasing my daughters around I am also involved in my church. I am chairperson of a board and then also a council member. Plus I am one of two that have managed to get started and organize a scrapbooking/crafting night at our church once a month and then 3 overnight retreats a year at our campgrounds. I also volunteer as a Clover Kids leader (4-H for the Kindergarten to 3rd grade kids) and teach CPR and First Aid courses for the local red cross.

Pieces & Parts Designer: Jean

We have another Pieces and Parts Designer for this month and her name is Jean! You can find her hanging out on her blog so after you have seen what she created with my leftovers be sure to click on the link to pay her a visit :) I asked Jean the big question, of course, and here is what she said about being a groovy chick... That is a tough question to answer as I don’t know that I am all that groovy. I love to create and scrap even though it is more and more difficult with two grown up kids! My 23 year old son is quite close by and puts up with my attempt to continue traditions such as Easter egg coloring and pumpkin hunting. My daughter in grad school is good about sending me photos of events that she has attended which allows me to scrap her life at school. I have ventured out the past year into creating canvases and doing more cards. I have learned that I enjoy the process and it is ok if it is not perfect and not to compare! I was lucky enough to attend the US of F in Michigan where I met other wonderful Fiskateers. This is a great place for inspiration! Here is what she has created to share and I have to say that I really cannot say which one I love the best. Having said that I would say she is DEFINITELY a groovy chick :) Thanks to Jean, Deb♥

Pieces & Parts Designer: Cindy

Hi Everyone! It has been awhile, but I am bringing back a feature that was so much fun...that of the Pieces & Parts Designer! What happened was before this day came around I mailed my "leftovers" to Cindy and she created whatever she wanted using these things she received :) The only stipulation was to use only white card stock if any was needed which could be altered in anyway with the use of inks, chalks, the like, but absolutely no other embellies. Ready to meet Cindy and see what she created? Well here she is and I bet you have seen her because this girl knows how to hop around the Internet! She is must have the Energizer Bunny as her friend because I really do see her all over the scrap world! It is an honor to have her with us today :)

I asked Cindy what makes her a Groovy Chick and here is what she told me: Creativity is part of my daily life. No matter what I'm doing, I always manage to put my own spin on things and try different approaches or techniques. While paper crafting is my main love, I enjoy a huge variety of crafts. Over the years, I think I've tried them all. My creativity isn't just limited to crafting, as I love inventing recipes and have won quite a few cooking contests. Once you have checked out her projects be sure to leave a comment here and you may be chosen as the next Pieces & Parts Designer :) then hop over to Cindy's blog to say hello :)

Meet Kelly Pieces & Parts Designer R U Next???

Have you met Kelly? She is my latest Happy Mail Recipient of Pieces and Parts

...in fact here is what I sent to her all by Paper Crush:

I thought it was cute when I read what she said after opening her happy mail "These pieces actually were perfect for these photos of my little rock star strumming away on the Camp Rock toy guitar she got for Christmas."

So here is what she made after saying that:

She had plenty of goodies to work with so let me show you project #2 and her description
"Project #2: Easter card. I dropped a bit of red, pink, and blue acrylic paint on the edge of the paper and pulled a squeegee (is that how you spell it?, like you use to clean your windows) through it. My pink paint was a little old and clumpy...which actually made a cool pattern."

And #3 Busy girl huh?
"Project #3: Oversize (8x8) birthday card: Used that squeegee trick again to color the paper. Inked the edges with pink. Chalked the letters of "birthday"."

Then there is Project #4!!! An even busier girl!
"#4: Friendship card: I embossed the paper using the Big Shot. I punched small circles (from all of the tag pieces) to make the flower petals."

Now that we have seen THE ART let's find out more about THE ARTIST and see what she said when I asked her what makes her a groovy chick ")

Why am I "groovy"?

G is for "go to" I am the "go to" for my family and friends (and at work and at my kids' school) for all things creative and crafty.

R is for "resourceful" I love to re-use objects and create something new.

O is for "outrageous" Ok, maybe I'm not too outrageous. But, I do like to push my self into trying new projects.

O is for "oodles" I have "oodles" of art and craft supplies at home. Yes, I am a saver. I have been told that my basement craft "dungeon" looks like a store. Need pipe cleaners? What color do you want? Need popsicle sticks? What size do you want? Need styrofoam? What shape do you want? Need stickers? What are you celebrating? Get the idea?

V is for "very creative". Whether it's thinking of a project for the school auction, or for Children's Liturgy of the Word at church, or for a Early Childhood motor group at work, or re-arranging the art work on my walls at home, or thinking of a scrapbook layout...I will admit I don't need to think real hard or real long. Creativity comes very easy to me and for that I feel truly blessed.

Y is for "yes". Yes, I tend to say "yes" too often. It has been known to get me into an overwhelming project, but...I'm never bored!

And that is why "I'm groovy".

Thank you so much for letting me be your P and P designer. It was challenging and GROOVY!

Kelly

Meet Pieces And Parts Designer Shannon White! CLOSED

Check out our latest Pieces & Parts Designer Shannon White! I think she did an amazing job with all the pieces and parts of scrappy things I sent to her. Here is a pic of what she received in the mail:

Now let me show you a layout and a card she was able to create using my leftovers :)

Pretty groovy huh? Speaking of groovy I asked Shannon what makes her a groovy chick :) She said this:

Hey Deb!

What makes me a groovy chick?
I've always been into art since I was little, taking art class every year in school and eventually I went to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh for Multimedia and Web Design. I didn't really develop my hobby of scrapbooking until a little over 3 years ago but ever since I've been in love with it and it's opened doors to other crafts that I enjoy. I would say paper is my favorite material to craft with and I love making gifts and home decor elements for others. I'm fun-loving and easy-going and I love to share my hobby with other people. I am always encouraging others to get into scrapbooking and to stay scrapbooking because it is such a wonderful way to preserve memories that may end up being lost otherwise. I was say I'm a groovy chick because I enjoy making others happy and I love keeping memories alive!

Wanna learn more about Shannon? Please stop by her blog and sign up to see what she is up to! Want to be the next Pieces and Parts Designer? Leave some luv here and I will draw one person randomly and then send you some happy mail too to create with! Good luck!

Welcome Karin Hall, Pieces and Parts Designer CONTEST CLOSED

Recently I sent some Pieces and Parts to a new friend Karin Hall.
She was the latest player who received goodies to come up with whatever she could with some of my scrapbooking leftovers ") I asked Karin what makes her a Groovy Chick and she had this to say about herself...

Hi, my name is Karin Hall. I'm a second generation native Floridian. I've been creating most of my life and my sister got me hooked on scrapbooking a few years ago. I feel very special for having Groovy Deb have picked me for this pieces parts challenge. I love color - as a matter of fact there's not 1 (ok maybe 1) white wall in my home. My mantra is create peace and harmony - which is probably what makes me a Groovy Chick. I'm the peace maker and lover of life. Just celebrated my "50th" birthday - and can't figure out how it got here so fast! I have a 21 year old very talented artist for my daughter Olivia who is also a Fiskateer her passion is really pottery and mixed media. Thanks for all inspiration you give us Deb ..

Karin

Here is what she had to start with...

And, Here is what she created! I guess living in Florida she will have beach pics for this layout soon. Thanks to Karin for playing!!! Go by and say hello to her here:

Our latest Pieces & Parts Designer

Meet Katie Turner! I asked her to be my next Pieces & Parts Designer, then mailed her some very random supplies from leftovers I had. Lo and behold she managed to create several projects from those goodies and I made a new friend in the process. Check her out! Thanks for participating Katie!!!
Deb♥

***Note to self***
Never throw anything away when someone else can use it to create works of art

Katie Turner was born in Berlin, Germany in 1987 -- right in the heart of a very artsy district. She's been creating art since she could pick up a marker and currently lives and works in the midwest. She is largely self-taught in areas from web design to scrapbooking and doesn't believe in mistakes.
She's been scrapping the "modern" way since 2006, but has cut and paste various pictures into blank books since she was in elementary school, really getting into the scrapbook craze once she turned 13.
Some of her favorite things include, but are not limited to: Chicago, indie music, food, art of all kinds, the internet, graphic design, her zune & sidekick 3, book & record stores, shows, constantly learning & evolving.
Check out her creative blog at http://telerobotic.tumblr.com and her web-based portfolio at http://www.telerobotic.net.

Thanks again. I really had fun with this and it's an honor to be included with all the talented artists featured on your blog!

Sooooooooooo, I asked KAtie "What makes YOU a Groovy Chick?"

Here is her response that I can totally relate to, lol!

"What makes me a groovy chick? I'm totally free-spirited and would be a hippie if I weren't so addicted to the Internet, of course. ;)"

Introducing If It's Groovy's FIRST Pieces & Parts Designer!!!

A few weeks ago I sent out a message on the Fiskateer board that I would RAC someone with some pieces and some parts of several Fiskars products that I had here that I wanted to see put to use. Of the entries Misty's name was drawn by random draw.

Meet Misty Kenner!

I live in Mckinney, TX just north of Dallas-go Cowboys! I have a 7 yr. old daughter that I homeschool & she is also very creative & loves to be artsy. I also have a home daycare so I NEED to scrapbook. LOL
I started scrapbooking many years ago but not seriously until about 3 yrs, ago. I couldn't believe how much things had changed! I love the creativity of it all now & that is what keeps me going. It has become more of a creative outlet for me & the memories I am preserving are just a bonus.
Some sites I really enjoy are scrapbook.com my fave. I am also a new Fiskateer & that is a really fun site. Memories by Design & Pages in Time. I also follow a few blogs.
I am a total Tim Holtz fanatic right now & I also always love using buttons, flowers & stickles.
I don't think I really have a 'style' I just like to try new & different things so it seems like my pages are all over the place.
I do lots of altering things, making ATC's, cards, & mini albums. I just love getting creative!

I asked Misty what makes her a groovy chick too :)

"I guess I am groovy because I love to have fun & learn new things."

You can check in on Misty at these places:
