Meet Genie Smith Resident 2 Page Sketch Artist

Now here is the third part of our 2 page team, Genie! She is a fantastic artist and I'm so glad to have her joining us. Let's see what we can learn about her :)

I live in central Michigan and I am a wedding and portrait photographer by day. I am married to a wonderful guy, Andy and we have a 5 year old diva in training... a true girlie girl. Evie loves to scrapbook with her mom and like mom, in true diva style, loves anything sparkly or pink. With a seamstress for a grandmother and a home-ec teacher for a mom, I has been immersed in creative, crafty activities since I was a kid. I've been scrapbooking sporadically since high school, but it has only become an obsession in the last two years. I love nothing more than seeing a page come together after a long battle. Currently, my loves are paper flowers, sewing on pages, and cutting up patterned paper to use as embellishments. I take inspiration from my world. As a mother and photographer, I have learned that the small things in life are what matter. I love trying to capture the nuances of relationships and details of life. I dare you to let your inner girlie girl loose :)

Thanks,Genie

Did you know that we have an excellent card staff here at If It's Groovy? Yep and here is the girl who will lead the team, the beautiful Jenny Brannies...show her some luv ;)
Meet Jenny Brannies Resident Lead Card Artist

My name is Jenny, I'm wife to Doug and Mama to one very cute and very blonde little guy named Caleb who will be three the end of June.

I've been scrapbooking since 2001 when a co-worker got me hooked. I started out using deco scissors and stickers galore and thought Creative Memories was da bomb. I quickly discovered my local scrapbook store and was in pure HEAVEN. The rest is history :) Let's just say I think I single-handedly kept my LSS in business for a while with all my purchases, LOL.

Let's see...

I was on the DT for and taught classes at my LSS for a year.. That was the funnest time of my life. I LOVED sharing my talent with others.

Then I got married and immediately pregnant and put aside scrapping til Caleb was about six months old.

I've recently started blogging and have discovered how much talent is out there on the www and am BLOWN AWAY!

I'm super excited to be on the IF IT'S GROOVY DT and cannot wait to work more with these lovely, talented ladies.

Stop by Jenny's hangout:
www.scraphappymama2 .blogspot. com

Jenny designed this card and we would love to see your take on it! If you choose to make a card using Jenny's sketch please email it to groovydeb@yahoo.com and we will return the luv by showing it right here alongside of Jenny :)

Meet Niki_Ray Bass Resident Card Artist

Let me introduce you to a really sweet girl joining us from the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the beautiful Bluegrass State! I know you wil love her eager attitude as much as I do...I bring you NR aka Niki-Ray!

Hello I am Niki_Ray from Fort Knox Kentucky. I am a SAHM to three wonderful kiddos they are 10, 3 and 2 years old. My husband and I have been married for 11 years. 12 this coming August.

My scrapping adventure started in 1998 with the birth of my daughter. I already loved to take pictures and wore the heck out of my little 110 camera so I needed to do something with all the pictures from it. So I started scrapbooking on 8x11 construction paper, Elmers glue and about 3 pairs of scissors. That was it until she got to be about 6 years old. My sister-in-law was invited to a CM party at our local baptist church, not knowing anyone there she invited me to go. I was there maybe a half hour and fell in love. I had the tape runner, corner punch and guillotine and I was in heaven. We made good friends with this CM consultant and it went from there. We started going to our LSS for 12 and 18 hour crops and just had a blast with it. I love trying anything once but have to admit I have my favorites. I think with my crafts I have the “I can do that” attitude. If I see something I like I try it myself and add my own twist to it to make it my own. I just get an idea in my head and sketch it out and run with it. In the past year I have fallen in love with card making I just cannot get enough and I make them for everyone I know. I love the smiles on their faces when they receive one, and it just makes my day...and hopefully theirs too. Some other non-scrappy stuff about me...I love the outdoors, my favorite season is Summer, I love to bowl and I LOVE Italian food,LOL! This is my first DT experience so I am super excited to be working with all these talented and crafty ladies!! XoXo Niki_Ray

Meet Amanda Valentin Resident Lead Digi Artist

Let's learn about the ever-fabulous Mandi!

My name is Amanda, but everyone calls me Mandi. I am a married, 28 year old SAHM/WAHM with 4 kiddies! I am an avid scrapbooker. My addiction started in 2003 with the very first rose my husband bought me when we first started dating. I stopped for a while, and then in 2006 when DD number 3 was born, my addiction blew up. I am now a paper hoarding, scrapping addict!! I am also in love with Stickles!! In 2006 I started playing with digital, but didnt really get into it.. At the end of last year, I was introducted to PSP and that was it.. I have been hooked on digi and digi kits since!! My digi kit collection is just as bad as my traditional items collection! LOL

Scrapping is my way of creativity and showing my artistic side. Sometimes scrapping is also therapy for me. A peaceful few hours scrapping does me some good!!

I love learning new tips and techniques as well as sharing some of my own, and I always look forward to meeting new friends who share my favorite addiction!!

Mandi's digi team worked on the theme "Proud" this month and this is the digi layout Mandi created using that. The colors are striking!

Meet Jen Macknick Resident Lead Dollbabies Artist

And just what is a Dollbaby Artist? Jen! Jen is great at creating little girl pages for her scrapbook so she is taking on the role as Lead Dollbabies Artist here on If It's Groovy. With precious little dollbabies such as hers it would be hard to not create wonderful layouts. Let's see what she can do and what she is about...

Hello World! My name is Jen, and I am ecstatic to be the lead Dollbabies Designer for Deb and If it's Groovy. What could be cooler than being a Groovy Girl? It's a great honor to be here sharing my skill with all these other talented ladies. I am 27, and a SAHM of two beautiful girls; Lily 1, and Olivia 9. They are truly my inspiration! Each day they bring something new o the table, that until that moment I never knew I was without! It is such an amazing feeling being a mom to these amazing "bugs" how did I ever get so darn lucky? I am from Wisconsin, smack dab in the middle of the state in a city named Stevens Point. I have lived here all my life, and it's a great area. The most ironic thing is that I am a "beach bum" at heart, and cannot Wait for those few short summer months to arrive each year! I am the kinda girl who wears flip flops in the snow (yes really) and I own more pairs than I can count! I like my life put to the soundtrack of loud upbeat music, the kind that we can all dance to. And when I am out and about I love to meet new people and have a blast no matter the occasion. I have had the same girlfriends for years and they are like the sisters that I never had. I am a sentimental person, and I keep the things that are near to my heart forever! It helps to have these as I tell stories to others, and scrap memorable moments in my life. I have been scrapping since I was in High School. My first experience much like many others out there was at a SM party with my mom. Which looking back on is hilarious, because she has not one creativity bone in her body. But I do thank her for taking me, and introducing my to the world of Scrap booking that I know today. I remember cutting my first photo, which was such a taboo and feeling liberated....It only went from there. I scrap in a cute trendy style. With most of my photos and events revolving around my girls and my girlfriends I enjoy flowers and flourishes over most others. Although I do not shy away from new techniques and trends, and I am always looking for a new class, a local, crop, or on the web for inspiration. I enjoy making fun altered items, and mini books in addition to my layouts.

Happy Anniversary To the Groovy's!!!

HOLY MOLY BATMAN The Groovy's have been married 15 years1?!?!

In honor of my FIFTEEN year marriage to Kevin I thought I would celebrate with a joke...a very corny joke!!!

A husband and wife went in for counseling after 15 years of marriage.

When asked what the problem was, the wife went into a passionate,
painful tirade listing every problem they had ever had in the 15 years
they had been married. She went on and on and on: neglect, lack of
intimacy, emptiness, loneliness, feeling unloved and unlovable, an
entire laundry list of un-met needs she had endured over the course
of their marriage.

Finally, after allowing this to go on for a sufficient length of time, the
therapist got up, walked around the desk and, after asking the wife
to stand, embraced and kissed her passionately.

The woman shut up and quietly sat down as though in a daze. The
therapist turned to the husband and said, 'This is what your wife
needs at least three times a week. Can you do this?'

The husband thought for a moment and replied.. 'Well, I can drop
her off here on Mondays and Wednesdays, but on Fridays … I fish.'

Told ya corny right?

Meet Jill Revell Resident Lead Stamp Sketch Artist

Please help me welcome Jill Revell. She has an infectious personality ( in a good way, lol) and I think it shows through on her layouts. She sells Close to My Heart products and I am sure that you will see a lot of those gorgeous products on her pages as she leads the stamping sketch team! Now here she is...

My Name is Jill, or Pryncess Jill! I have been happily married for three years to the best man in the world, Steve. We have a giant half lab half boxer named Diesel that we adore and a cat named Tiara, who is a little psycho. We live in Chesterfield, VA which is where we both grew up less than 5 miles from one another, but didn't meet until much later in life. In addition to living in Virginia I have lived in Texas, Florida, and Georgia. I started scrapping in 1996 and can honestly say that I am caught up with all of my photos through Christmas of 2008, so 4 months behind isn't too bad right? I love bright colors, big flowers, and stamps! I do a lot of basic scrapping in my family albums, but give me a great picture and I love to really get into a page and make art!

Jill Revell

Here is a layout she did recently to welcome Baby Jenna :) Notice the use of stamps. If you create a layout using the same style please let me know at groovydeb@yahoo.com and you too may be focused here on If It's Groovy!!!

Meet Jeanette Giancaspro Resident Stamp Sketch Artist

Jeanette will be working closely with Jill Revell. They together will provide sketches in the future as well as their take on the sketch meanwhile using stamping as a technique I think so many of us love. I think you will appreciate the work of Jeanette Giancaspro! Her use of stamps will be a great inspiration to any of us looking to pick up our stamps once again :) Please help me welcome Jeanette and here is more all about her...

I've been married for almost 20 years (in July), and we have 2 very unique and gifted children: David (14) and Haley (9). I have been scrapbooking and stamping for about 8 years. I started right after our first trip to DisneyWorld, where I bought a scrapbook kit to showcase our Disney photos. Then my husband bought me my first issue of Memory Makers. The rest is history....

I teach scrapbooking and stamping workshops/classes, and I really enjoy teaching others and helping them to see that we are all creative - even those of us who never thought we had an artistic or creative bone in our bodies. That is what I used to enjoy most when I was a school teacher: seeing that "aha!" moment when a student of mine finally got what I was teaching. It's the same with crafting. I find it very gratifying when I can inspire others to see and reach their potential.

I'm looking forward to working with this super-talented group of groovy ladies, and I'm grateful to Deb for offering me the opportunity to be part of this fabulous team.

Jeanette
